So....my family has bad holiday karma.
People get in car crashes.  The garbage disposal blows up.  The power goes out.  There are minor floods.  Etc.

Today, a shelf in my china cupboard decided it no longer wanted to remain horizontal.

No real reason.  No one was touching it.  It just decided it was fed up.

So, It collapsed.  Pushing the doors out and raining down about 2/3  of the "formal" dining ware.  You know, the purty stuff you register for in your wedding and use maybe 2 or 3 times a year.

Days like Thanksgiving.


The sea of smashed china and glassware is now cleaned up.  I wept, and then I laughed.  What else can you do?

There are worse things.  But to quote Martha, is it not a "good thing".

At least my chestnut soup is smelling good.
